Hi, I’m Ally. I started at Emboss in January of 2022, about two and a half years after I graduated with my Masters of Architecture from UC. I had about 3+ years of experience working at small firms in the city of Cincinnati during co-ops at UC and at my first full time job out of grad school. I came to Emboss with the desire to wrap my arms around a project, interact and get to know clients, and learn more about the practice of architecture. I had no idea at the time all this job had in store for me.
Over the past two years at Emboss I’ve been involved in nearly 80 projects. This was a massive change from my previous firm where I worked on less than 10 projects in the 2+ years I spent there. All of the work I do is local and I am involved at all stages of a project. I lead design teams through projects and fill in where it’s needed. At any time, I’m working on several different projects throughout the delivery stages.
At Emboss, I was also able to complete my remaining four licensure exams and AXP hours and was promoted to a project architect. I’m also doing leadership program with AIA Cincinnati. Today, I’m living a dream that I thought was 5 years in the future. How was this all possible?
At times it’s felt like a rocket is strapped to my back with the sense that we are going to just have to figure it out. As full as it can be at times there is always someone cheering you on or lending a hand. I would not be where I am today without the support from my team. When I’m not sure how to do something, I do my best to figure it out knowing I can always consult the talented people by my side. We trust each other and also let each other know how we can improve. No one has all the answers and no one faults you for having questions or questioning the answers you get. Your growth means our growth.
